For a small manufacturer, printing a batch number or product code does not always justify installing a complete coding line. The situation is similar for workshops and packaging businesses that handle different products in relatively small quantities. In these cases, being able to pick up a printer and move it to the product can be more practical.
This is the approach behind the CYCJET Smart Mini Handheld Inkjet Printer. The compact device weighs about 180 grams, making it easy to carry and operate by hand. Instead of moving products to a fixed printer, an operator can bring the printer to the work area and print when needed.
The printer supports resolutions of up to 1200 DPI and has a 24 mm print width. It can be used for common coding requirements such as text, numbers, logos, barcodes and QR codes, depending on the ink and application.
Content changes are handled through a mobile APP. The Smart Mini supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, allowing users to prepare and update printing information from a mobile device. This can be useful when several products require different codes or when information needs to be changed between production batches.
The same flexibility can be useful outside a conventional production line. The Smart Mini can be used for coding on paper, cardboard, labels and other suitable surfaces, with ink selected according to the material and the required printing result.
The unit uses a 20ml ink cartridge and a 700mAh battery. CYCJET states that the battery can provide up to approximately 12 hours of operation, depending on working conditions.
For a packaging workshop preparing several small orders, for example, printing information can be changed from one batch to the next without setting up a separate machine for each product. The same handheld format can also be useful when packages or products are too varied to fit easily into a fixed coding setup.
That makes portability an important part of the Smart Mini’s role. Rather than focusing on a single production line, the printer is intended for coding tasks that move with the operator—from a workbench to a packaging area or another location where product information needs to be added.
